How Are You, Ricky?
Hi guys!
After almost a year, I’m back I hope that 2026 will be a more stable and happier year compared to 2025 😅
During 2025 I had to go through several personal and work‑related problems:
- I lost my uncle, and it hurts both physically and mentally.
- I made an offer on a new home that was accepted. Three days before signing the final deed of sale, I discovered major structural issues with the house foundations and, thanks to the lawyers, I managed to withdraw from the purchase.
- My dad was hospitalized for 10 days after doctors discovered a severe peritonitis. And guess what? The surgery took place on the exact same day (one year later) that my uncle passed away.
- My partner has two Labradors. One of them (11 years old) was diagnosed with stomach cancer and had to undergo emergency surgery. Now, after a few months, the cancer has come back and it’s not looking good.
- I made a second offer on a new home and, apart from some minor and non‑critical issues, everything seems to be going well.
- In the first months of the year, I was in a role that didn’t fit me at all. To be clear I need to design, implement, and fix infrastructures; I don’t want to spend my time talking about rocket science with customers.
- I changed jobs (thank you A. M. R.!!!!), and even though this new role and company really match my goals and growth plans, a change is always a change and it brings stress (probation period + buying a home = never again).
- I had to learn and focus on new technologies to deliver some new projects. It has been really cool and challenging, but at the same time very stressful because you want to prove your value to your colleagues and to the company.
- I had to pause my CCIE Data Center preparation (for now) because of all these changes.
- More and more private issue, I’ll not go into them
As you can imagine, this year really challenged my mind and my sense of humor. I didn’t feel good and sometimes needed to stay alone in my “nothing zone.”
But… What about 2026?
Well, the house is almost complete and should be ready in February, but I’ll move in during May (stay tuned, a small network infrastructure project is needed 😉) and I think that this will bring to me some peacefulness and could fix some other personal-related problems.
I’ll get back into blogging and social media: I want to track my progress on my learning path and, more importantly, share my CCIE DC journey (I’ll try, no promises guys 😅).
This is a “private” post, I won’t share it on LinkedIn or X because it serves as my first step into the new year.
So, if you’re reading this, thank you. I really appreciate it.
See you soon,
Ricky
